BILLING & INSURANCE

We participate in most major private insurance plans and Medicare. Co-payments are expected at the time of service. Please understand that you will also be responsible for any deductibles, coinsurance, and/or other costs not covered by your insurance plan. If a referral is required for your visit, it is your responsibility to obtain the referral before your appointment. We offer discounts for self-pay patients who pay in full at the time of service.

We bill insurance as a courtesy to our patients. Patients are responsible to know their insurance coverage as well as responsible for the bill.

Note insurance plans change regularly and patients are advised to call their insurance company for confirmation. If your insurance company requires that you need a referral you are responsible to provide one from you primary care doctor.

BILLING & INSURANCE FAQ

Can I be seen without health insurance? What if you don’t accept my insurance?


If you do not have health insurance coverage, you are still welcome as a patient of ours. You will be considered “Private Pay” with our practice. Effective July 15, 2020, we now kindly require a credit card to be on file with our office so that your payment can be automatically drafted the day of or after your appointment. If you decline to place a credit card on file, you may pre-pay your visit in full prior to the appointment date. Please call our billing office to receive your estimate for services at 214-369-5992.




What is PCI-DSS compliant?


Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council offers robust and comprehensive standards to enhance payment card data security and reduce exposure to credit card fraud. PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) provides an actionable framework for developing a robust payment card data security process, including prevention, detection, and appropriate reaction to security incidents.




I am nervous about providing my credit card information online.  Is it secure?


Athena's secure PCI-DSS compliant system never stores sensitive credit card information in our office system or Athena's, it is stored with the merchant.




When do I give you my credit card?


We prefer that you enter your credit card information while confirming/pre-registering for your appointment through our secure platform, Athena. Please pay close attention to your appointment reminders sent via text & email to complete pre-registration. You can also deliver your credit card information over the phone, by mail, or in person, but the most secure way is online during pre-registration.




How do I know if North Texas Endocrine Center accepts my insurance?


We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare. Please contact your insurance to verify that North Texas Endocrine Center is a contracted provider.




How do I know what benefits are covered?


We will be happy to provide you with any procedure codes that are to be billed so that you may confirm with your insurance plan that it is covered.




How do I know what my co-pay is?


If your co-pay is not listed on your insurance card, please contact the 1-800 number on the back of your card to check your benefits.




Do I need a referral to visit North Texas Endocrine Center?

How do I get paperwork that my employer, workers’ comp or insurance company is asking for filled out?


Please schedule an appointment with your provider to discuss if this is something we will consider filling out.




Cancellations | No Shows


Your appointment will be confirmed via our automated system 3 days prior to your visit. If you are unable to keep your appointment we request 24-hour notice for cancellations. We realize that sometimes emergencies arise and patients must miss or cancel their appointments on short notice. However, missed appointments affect our ability to provide timely appointments for all patients. We reserve the right to dismiss patients from our practice after three missed appointments in a 12-month period. A $50 no show fee will be charged for all established patients who no show or cancel less than 24-hour notice and $75 fee for all new patients who no show or cancel with less than 48-hour notice.
